Start with the surface beneath the finish
A countertop edge, stair tread and bathroom vanity present different details from a flat wall. Existing coatings, joints, movement and moisture affect the preparation and system selection. Share these details with ATRIA before using the layer diagram as a project specification.
Countertops & islands
Identify the existing material and coating, then include the edge profile, joints and sink or appliance cutouts. Tell us how the surface will be used and cleaned so the proposed finish and protection can be reviewed.
Stairs & furniture
Include tread and riser dimensions, exposed edges, curves and joints. Photos of damage or movement help ATRIA assess preparation and reinforcement needs; a surface area alone does not describe the work.
Water & heat exposure
For sinks, wet areas or fireplace surrounds, describe the water or heat exposure before choosing materials. Suitability needs project-specific review. Microcement is not a waterproofing membrane; wet-area assemblies need the appropriate waterproofing beneath the finish.
