About this finish

Primers & Sealers

What it is

Which of these do I actually need? This family is the invisible half of every ATRIA system: the primer that makes the finish stick, and the sealer that makes it last. The rule is simple — Primerquarz for walls, Atriafloor Primer BC for floors, whether that is bare concrete and screed or existing tile, wood, and glass — and every floor or wet-area job ends with Atriapol on top, because microcement is never waterproof from a single can: it is the sealed assembly, base coat plus Atriapol, that handles water.

Atriapol Antibacterial Matte: The matte topcoat (12–18 gloss at 60°), and the default choice for a natural, low-sheen microcement look. Carries the ISO 22196:2011 antibacterial certification listed on its spec, tested against E. coli and S. aureus.

Why choose it

  • Two primers cover every substrate — quartz-grip acrylic for walls, and an anchoring two-component epoxy that bonds to concrete, screed, tile, wood, and glass — so renovation rarely means demolition.
  • Both Atriapol topcoats carry ISO 22196:2011 antibacterial certification (tested against E. coli and S. aureus) and are UV-resistant and non-yellowing.
  • The topcoat spec is measured, not promised: over 10,000 wet-abrasion cycles (DIN 53778) and adhesion above 3.6 MPa (EN 1542) — measured on the topcoat that finishes the waterproof-by-assembly system.

How it’s applied

  1. 01Match the primer to the surface: Primerquarz on walls, Atriafloor Primer BC on floors — bare concrete, screed, tile, ceramic, wood, MDF, or glass.
  2. 02Prepare the substrate first: it must be solid, dry and clean. Completely remove dust, residues, and loose or flaking parts by vacuuming, brushing, or sanding — Primer BC must not go onto a dusty or unstable surface. It anchors to a sound substrate; it does not consolidate a weak or friable one, so a chalky slab needs making good before you prime.
  3. 03Roll or brush on one coat and let it set — Primerquarz recoats in 4–6 hours; the epoxy Primer BC waits overnight, 8–12 hours minimum.
  4. 04Apply your decorative coat — Titanium, SuperTitanium, or Resina One — over the primed surface. On floors, the Atriafloor One Rasante base coat goes between primer and resin.
  5. 05Finish with 2–3 coats of Atriapol, matte or gloss — this sealed assembly, not any single product, is what makes bathrooms and showers work.
  6. 06Floors take foot traffic after about 12–14 hours; deep dry follows at 18–24 hours.
