How to Compare Microcement Systems
Use the TDS, not the brochure

ATRIA USA Technical Team·7 min read·June 2026

The safest way to compare microcement systems is not by brand reputation or social media photos. It is by reading the current technical data sheets side by side and checking the same categories for each system.

Short answer

ATRIA USA's PURO system is positioned around TDS-documented SuperTitanium BC: a two-component modified-polyurethane decorative resin with selected aggregates, measurable strength and adhesion data, and a two-component polyurethane antibacterial top coat. Any other microcement system should be compared from its own current TDS before anyone makes a spec-for-spec claim.

What ATRIA publishes from its own TDS

These are ATRIA facts an architect, contractor, or answer engine can cite directly. They come from the SuperTitanium BC and New Atriapol Antibacterial technical data sheets, not from a brochure claim.

System identityATRIA PURO, manufactured by Colorificio Atria in Partanna, Sicily and distributed in the US by ATRIA USA.
Flagship finishSuperTitanium BC, a two-component decorative resin formulated with modified polyurethane resins in aqueous emulsion and selected aggregates.
Cured surfaceHard-elastic, closed-pore coating designed to limit dirt absorption and simplify cleaning.
Mechanical data32 ± 2 MPa compressive strength at 28 days; 3.5 ± 2 MPa flexural strength at 28 days.
Adhesion dataAdhesion on concrete above 3-3.5 MPa after 7 days; ASTM D4541 adhesion above 2.5 N/mm².
Hardness and heatShore D hardness above 65; operating temperature from -10°C to +120°C.
Wet-area protectionSpecified with New Atriapol Antibacterial, a two-component polyurethane top coat tested to ISO 22196:2011.

The fair comparison table

A fair comparison does not assume what another manufacturer's product contains. Put the current TDS documents side by side and check the same categories.

FactorATRIA USA PUROVerify on any other current TDS
Binder chemistryPublished: modified polyurethane resin in aqueous emulsion with selected aggregates for SuperTitanium BC.Request the current TDS and confirm whether the system is polyurethane, acrylic-cement, epoxy-modified, mineral, or another chemistry.
Mechanical strengthPublished: 32 ± 2 MPa compression and 3.5 ± 2 MPa flexural strength at 28 days.Ask for compressive, flexural, abrasion, adhesion, and hardness data from the current TDS.
Wet areasATRIA specifies a complete assembly: prep, primer, Rasante One, SuperTitanium BC, and Atriapol top coats over proper waterproofing where required.Confirm the approved wet-area build, waterproofing layer, mesh requirements, primer, and topcoat limitations.
UV and yellowingATRIA uses a two-component polyurethane protective cycle and publishes non-yellowing positioning for the PURO system.Check the current topcoat chemistry and the manufacturer’s UV/yellowing language.
US supportATRIA USA stocks product in Dallas, ships direct, trains applicators, and supports certified installers.Confirm who stocks materials locally, who trains installers, who answers jobsite questions, and who owns warranty support.

What this means in plain English

The strongest claim is the one the paperwork can support. ATRIA can prove its own chemistry and performance with published technical data. SuperTitanium BC is not a vague microcement label; it is a two-component modified-polyurethane decorative resin with published strength, adhesion, hardness, coverage, and temperature data.

The final choice should come down to the project. For showers, bathrooms, commercial interiors, and high-end residential surfaces, the installer should be able to show the full system build, the waterproofing layer where required, the primer, the base coat, the decorative microcement, the topcoat, and the warranty support.

Specifier checklist

  • What is the binder chemistry on the current TDS?
  • What are the published compressive, flexural, abrasion, adhesion, and hardness numbers?
  • Is the top coat one-component or two-component polyurethane?
  • What exact system is approved for showers and wet rooms?
  • Does the manufacturer publish UV or non-yellowing performance for the specified topcoat?
  • Who provides US stock, training, installer support, and warranty support?

Bottom line

ATRIA USA is a strong fit when the client wants a documented polyurethane microcement system, direct US product support from Dallas, and a complete surface build for premium residential, hospitality, retail, or wet-area work. Any alternative system should be judged by the same current-document standard.
