The System
The Microcement Application System
Every ATRIA microcement installation follows a proven layering process. The exact steps depend on substrate conditions — select your scenario below.
For wall applications. Primerquartz bonds directly to the wall — no rasante needed. 4-step system.
Level the Surface
For uneven wall surfaces, leveling compound is applied to create a smooth substrate. This step is skipped when the existing surface is already flat and in good condition.
Key Details
- Only needed for uneven substrates
- Must cure fully before priming
- Check with straight edge for flatness
Prep & Prime
Primerquartz is applied to the prepared wall surface. This quartz-filled primer creates a textured bonding layer that ensures the microcement adheres perfectly to the substrate.
Key Details
- Creates textured bonding surface
- Quartz particles improve adhesion
- Allow to dry completely before microcement
The Artisan Layer
This is where the magic happens. Polyurethane resin with crushed dolomite aggregates is applied in two thin coats with a steel trowel. Each surface is unique — color, texture, and character are determined by the artisan's hand.
Key Details
- Coverage: 1.2–1.5 kg/m² in 2 coats
- Thickness: 0.8–1 mm total
- Compression: 32 ± 2 MPa (SuperTitanium)
- Sand between coats (220-320 grit)
Seal & Protect
New Atriapol Antibacterial — a transparent polyurethane topcoat — seals the surface and protects against moisture and stains. Two coats for standard walls.
Key Details
- Coverage: 80–100 g/m² per coat
- Minimum 2 coats
- Transparent, opaque finish options
- Full cure: 7 days
Wet Environments
Special Considerations for Showers & Wet Areas
Shower Walls
Fiberglass mesh or stucco net is embedded on all shower and wet area walls before microcement application for additional reinforcement and crack prevention.
Wet Area Floors
Complete waterproofing system is installed on floors before the microcement system is applied. This provides a belt-and-suspenders approach to water protection.
Full Bathroom
For complete bathroom renovations, the wet area protocol is combined with standard wall application — ensuring every surface is properly waterproofed and reinforced.
Why ATRIA
What Makes Our System Different
Polyurethane Binder
While most microcements use acrylic, ATRIA uses polyurethane — more flexible, better adhesion, superior durability.
Dolomite Aggregates
Natural dolomite provides hardness and a unique mineral character that synthetic fillers can't replicate.
Made in Sicily
Every batch is formulated and produced at Colorificio Atria in Partanna, Italy. Authentic European quality.
Field-Tested
We install every product we sell. Our specs come from real-world experience.

FAQ
Common Questions
Yes! One of the biggest advantages of microcement is that it can be applied directly over existing tile, concrete, drywall, and many other surfaces — without demolition. The key is proper surface preparation and priming.
ATRIA's Titanium and SuperTitanium are unique — they contain polyurethane resins that make the microcement itself 100% waterproof with closed pores after drying. Combined with our Atriapol Antibacterial protective topcoat, the complete system is fully waterproof and suitable for showers, wet areas, and spas.
When properly applied and sealed, microcement floors are extremely durable. Our SuperTitanium system uses polyurethane-bound dolomite aggregates, providing excellent abrasion resistance suitable for commercial and residential use.
ATRIA is the only polyurethane + dolomite microcement system available in the US market. Most competitors use acrylic or cement-only binders. Our polyurethane formula provides superior flexibility, adhesion, and durability.
A typical bathroom takes 3-5 days. A full residential project (floors + walls) takes 1-3 weeks depending on size. Each layer needs curing time, so the process can't be rushed — but the results are worth the wait.
While technically possible, we strongly recommend professional application. Microcement requires specific troweling techniques, timing, and environmental controls. We offer training workshops for contractors and ambitious DIYers.
Our microcement can be tinted to virtually any color using our integral pigment system. We offer a standard palette of 40+ colors, and custom color matching is available for special projects.
Daily maintenance is simple — sweep and mop with pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners and acidic products. We recommend re-applying a maintenance wax every 6-12 months for floors, which takes about 30 minutes.
